Burapha University, through the Global Relations Center, successfully hosted the AUN-BUU Summer Camp 2026 under the theme “YATHA: Youth, Assembly, Tradition, Health & Altruism” from 7–21 June 2026. The program welcomed 36 students, comprising 24 international students from ASEAN University Network (AUN) member and partner universities and 12 Burapha University students, creating an inspiring multicultural learning environment that fostered academic exchange, intercultural understanding, and sustainable regional collaboration.
The summer camp was organised in support of the ASEAN University Network (AUN) Summer Camp initiative, which promotes student mobility and academic collaboration among member universities. As one of the founding members of AUN, Burapha University reaffirmed its leadership in strengthening regional higher education cooperation while advancing the university’s internationalisation strategy.
Participants represented leading universities across Asia, including National University of Singapore, Universitas Airlangga, Universitas Indonesia, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho University, Kanazawa University, Guangxi University, Yangon University of Economics, University of Mandalay, Mahidol University, and Prince of Songkla University.
Throughout the two-week program, students engaged in a diverse range of academic, cultural, health, environmental, and community engagement activities designed around the YATHA concept. The camp emphasized experiential learning through English-medium instruction, intercultural communication, teamwork, leadership development, Thai language and cultural immersion, sustainable tourism, Thai culinary heritage, community service, and environmental awareness. Participants also worked collaboratively with Burapha University students, promoting meaningful cultural exchange and international friendships.
The project successfully achieved its key objectives by:
– Demonstrating Burapha University’s leadership as a founding member of the ASEAN University Network.
– Supporting international academic activities and student mobility aligned with the university’s Micro-credential strategy.
– Providing opportunities for Thai and international students to exchange knowledge, cultures, and perspectives while developing global competencies.
– Strengthening academic partnerships and long-term collaboration with leading universities across ASEAN and Asia.
Beyond academic outcomes, the camp significantly contributed to creating an international learning environment on campus through the concept of Internationalization at Home (IaH), allowing Burapha University students to gain global experiences without leaving the country. The program also enhanced the university’s international visibility and reinforced its reputation as an active contributor to regional higher education development.
The AUN-BUU Summer Camp 2026 directly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, by providing inclusive, high-quality international learning opportunities that develop global citizenship, intercultural competence, leadership, and lifelong learning skills. In addition, the project advances SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by strengthening collaboration among universities across ASEAN and Asia, encouraging knowledge sharing, student mobility, and sustainable academic partnerships that contribute to regional development.
Through initiatives such as the AUN-BUU Summer Camp, Burapha University remains committed to empowering future leaders, promoting cross-cultural understanding, and building a stronger, more connected higher education community in the ASEAN region and beyond.
