AUN-BUU Summer Camp 2026: Thai Wellness Wisdom Promotes Holistic Health and Thai Traditional Wisdom on the International Stage

From 9–11 June 2026, the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Burapha University, organized “AUN-BUU Summer Camp 2026: Thai Wellness Wisdom” as part of the AUN-BUU Summer Camp 2026 program coordinated by the Global Relations Center, Burapha University. Held under the theme “YATHA: Youth, Assembly, Traditional, Health & Altruism,” the program brought together 24 international students from ASEAN University Network (AUN) member universities and 12 Burapha University students for a unique intercultural learning experience.

As a member and one of the founding institutions of the ASEAN University Network (AUN), Burapha University was honored to host AUN-BUU Summer Camp 2026, reaffirming its commitment to fostering academic collaboration, intercultural exchange, and regional engagement among ASEAN youth. The program reflects the University’s strategic vision to enhance internationalization, strengthen partnerships among higher education institutions, and promote student mobility while supporting the development of future-ready competencies through experiential learning and micro-credential opportunities.

Under the theme “Thai Wellness Wisdom,” the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences introduced participants to Thailand’s holistic approach to health and well-being by integrating modern health sciences with traditional Thai wellness practices. Throughout the three-day program, participants engaged in body composition analysis and health assessments, gaining insights into their physical condition and receiving guidance on appropriate exercise and lifestyle practices for long-term health promotion and disease prevention.

The program featured a variety of interactive and hands-on workshops focusing on holistic health care and traditional Thai wellness techniques. Participants learned about Thai traditional medicine, facial massage, and Gua Sha therapy while exploring proper muscle relaxation techniques and healthy movement practices. Faculty members and health professionals provided practical demonstrations on how different exercises and body movements contribute to the functioning of various muscle groups and body systems, enabling participants to better understand the role of physical activity in maintaining overall health and well-being.

To promote mental well-being alongside physical health, participants also took part in mindfulness and meditation sessions designed to enhance self-awareness, concentration, stress management, and emotional balance. These activities encouraged students to adopt healthy habits and recognize the importance of holistic wellness in their daily lives.

A special session on Thai herbal beverages introduced participants to the nutritional and medicinal properties of traditional herbs commonly used in Thailand. Students learned about the preparation processes, ingredients, and health benefits of various herbal drinks and gained insights into how Thai communities have long utilized natural resources and local wisdom to promote wellness, strengthen immunity, and prevent illness. This activity highlighted the value of traditional knowledge and its continued relevance to contemporary health promotion.

Beyond health-related learning, the camp provided opportunities for cultural exchange and friendship-building among students from diverse backgrounds. Team-building exercises, recreational activities, and collaborative learning experiences encouraged communication, mutual understanding, and appreciation of cultural diversity. These interactions fostered meaningful connections among participants and strengthened regional solidarity among future ASEAN leaders.

The program demonstrates Burapha University’s commitment to serving as an international learning hub while preserving and promoting Thai cultural and wellness heritage on the global stage. By sharing Thai traditional wisdom with international participants, the University contributes to cross-cultural understanding and showcases Thailand’s rich heritage in health and well-being practices.

AUN-BUU Summer Camp 2026: Thai Wellness Wisdom contributes to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The program supports SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being by promoting health literacy, preventive healthcare, physical fitness, mental wellness, and healthy lifestyles. It advances SDG 4: Quality Education through experiential, interdisciplinary, and intercultural learning opportunities that enhance students’ knowledge and practical skills. The camp contributes to SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by providing equal opportunities for students from diverse countries and backgrounds to learn and engage together. Furthermore, it supports SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by strengthening collaboration among AUN member universities and fostering regional cooperation for sustainable development. The promotion of Thai traditional wellness knowledge, herbal medicine, and cultural practices also aligns with SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities through the preservation and dissemination of intangible cultural heritage.

Through this initiative, Burapha University continues to demonstrate its capacity to integrate health education, cultural heritage, international collaboration, and innovative learning experiences, creating meaningful opportunities for ASEAN youth to develop into healthy, socially responsible, culturally aware, and globally minded citizens.
