The “Coordination Initiative for Providing Social and Health Assistance to the Pattaya Community” is organized by the Faculty of Political Science and Law, Burapha University, in collaboration with the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth) and social network partners, including the Homeless Knowledge Development Program, Baan Toh Fun Shelter, Mue-Tor-Mue Foundation, and other relevant organizations.
The project aims to support vulnerable populations and homeless individuals in Pattaya by facilitating fair and inclusive access to essential social and healthcare services. Pattaya, despite being a key economic and tourism hub, faces persistent challenges related to inequality and social vulnerability, particularly among homeless and marginalized groups. This initiative establishes a coordination point that brings together government agencies, academic institutions, and civil society organizations to provide immediate assistance, including food coupons, basic health check-ups, healthcare rights transfers, donated clothing, and free haircut services. These efforts contribute to improving quality of life and ensuring human dignity for all.
The project aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being
SDG 16: Promoting peaceful, just, and inclusive societies with strong institutions ensuring social protection and basic rights
SDG 17: Strengthening partnerships among academia, government, and social networks for sustainable solutions to social challenges
The “Coordination Initiative for Providing Social and Health Assistance to the Pattaya Community” aims to improve the well-being and quality of life of vulnerable and homeless populations in Pattaya City. The project primarily seeks to promote fair and inclusive access to healthcare services and basic social assistance, in line with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), ensuring that no one is left behind in receiving essential care and support.
Furthermore, the initiative strives to establish mechanisms that safeguard fundamental rights and uphold human dignity through timely and appropriate social and health interventions. This effort supports the creation of a peaceful, just, and inclusive society with strong institutions, resonating with the objectives of SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).
In addition, the project emphasizes strengthening partnerships among academic institutions, government agencies, and civil society organizations to integrate resources and expertise for sustainable solutions to social vulnerability, aligning with SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). The establishment of a centralized coordination point is expected to improve the effectiveness and continuity of assistance efforts and serve as a model for similar initiatives in other urban areas, enabling scalable and sustainable approaches to supporting marginalized communities.
