In today’s rapidly changing society, educational institutions serve not only as providers of academic resources but also as spaces that promote mental well-being, lifelong learning, and sustainable mindsets. As the “heart of learning,” the library plays a crucial role in shaping students’ behaviours and values.
This project integrates two key dimensions: Green Mind, which emphasises mental wellness, meaningful learning, and a sense of belonging; and Green Campus, which focuses on efficient resource use, waste reduction, and sustainable materials.
A survey of library users revealed strong student interest in creative activities, such as DIY projects and experience-sharing sessions. These activities encourage engagement and foster interaction with the library space, its resources, and services. Moreover, they reflect students’ desire for a space where they can express their identity, emotions, and social and environmental responsibility through creative participation.
In response, the International College initiated this project under the concept “Green Mind, Green Campus: Transforming the World Through the Library—Starting from Mind and Environment.” The aim is to develop the library into a vibrant, user-friendly learning space and a model of sustainable thinking and environmentally conscious practice.
Project Coordinator: Ms. Piyanuch Yatbamrung
Objectives:
- To promote student engagement with library services under the Green Mind and Green Campus concept.
- To develop the library into a space that supports mental well-being, learning, and sustainable relaxation.
- To encourage student interaction with library spaces, resources, and services through creative activities.
- To cultivate awareness of waste reduction, responsible resource use, and mental health care.
Program Activities:
The “Green Mind, Green Campus” student development project was organised by the International College to encourage active library use while fostering environmental awareness and mental well-being, in alignment with the university’s Green Campus/Green Office policies and the SDGs.
The project was conducted over four weeks, from February 9 to March 4, 2026, every Monday to Wednesday at the International College Library. Key activities included:
- Eco-Friendly Plant Pots from Plastic Bottles – promoting recycling and waste reduction.
- Borrow Books, Earn Points – encouraging reading and lifelong learning through a reward system.
- Weekly Quiz Challenges – enhancing general knowledge through interactive games.
- Mood Chart Board – providing a space for emotional expression and supporting mental well-being.
The project followed the PDCA (Plan–Do–Check–Act) process, including planning, proposal submission, implementation, evaluation, and reporting. With a total budget of 3,800 THB, the initiative aimed to increase library usage, strengthen students’ connection to the space, and foster environmentally responsible behaviours.
Expected Outcomes (Impacts):
1. Increased library usage and student participation, along with a stronger sense of belonging to the library space.
2. The library has become a safe, welcoming environment that supports learning, relaxation, and environmental sustainability, enhancing user satisfaction and institutional image.
3. Creative and interactive activities developed through the project can be expanded into long-term library programs, strengthening relationships between students and the library.
4. Students demonstrate behaviours aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Date of Implementation: February 9 to March 4, 2026
