Internship Orientation Program

Internship Orientation Program

The Department of Thai Language, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, offers the course 22849164 Internship Experience for third-year students during the Summer Semester of Academic Year 2025. The course aims to integrate students’ knowledge of Thai language, literature, folklore, and culture with practical experience in government agencies, private organisations, and educational institutions. This initiative enhances professional experience and prepares students for their future careers.

To support this objective, the Department organises the Internship Orientation Program to develop essential knowledge, competencies, and 21st-century skills. The program also promotes awareness of women’s rights, gender equality, and the prevention of workplace harassment. It provides students with structured guidance from supervising lecturers.

Ultimately, the project aims to cultivate graduates who are knowledgeable, ethical, socially responsible, and capable of working effectively in safe, inclusive, and sustainable professional environments.

Project Coordinator: Lecturer Kanrapee Somchit & Dr. Yanisa Sabua

Objectives:

  1. To provide students with a clear understanding of the internship process, including awareness of rights, roles, and gender equality, empowering female students to transition into the professional world confidently.
  2. To instil ethics, integrity, and professional conduct, while fostering respect for diversity and encouraging participation in creating safe and harassment-free workplaces.
  3. To empower female students to overcome gender-related barriers and apply their knowledge in real-world settings with professionalism, equality, and recognition from host organisations.

Program Activities:

The Internship Orientation Program for Fiscal Year 2026 was implemented through an integrated management approach aligned with SDG 5: Gender Equality. The initiative focuses on preparing students—particularly female students—to enter the workforce with confidence, dignity, and equal opportunity.

The Department appointed a project committee to plan and design the program, including orientation content and activity formats. Key topics included internship procedures, professional ethics, women’s rights, and the prevention of workplace bias and harassment.

The program was delivered through lectures and interactive knowledge-sharing sessions led by faculty members, emphasising 21st-century skills, confidence-building, and the creation of safe and inclusive work environments.

Following the program, participant satisfaction was assessed through questionnaires, and the results were compiled into a report to improve further and align future activities with sustainable development goals.

Expected Outcomes (Impacts):

The Internship Orientation Program significantly enhances students’ readiness for the professional world in terms of knowledge, skills, competencies, and professional ethics. Students gain greater awareness of their rights, responsibilities, and gender equality, enabling them to address workplace bias and appropriately prevent harassment.

Female students, in particular, experience increased empowerment and confidence, allowing them to demonstrate their capabilities and perform effectively and safely in professional environments.

Additionally, the program strengthens the image of the Department and Faculty as institutions that actively promote gender equality and sustainable development. It aligns with SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and helps foster inclusive, respectful, and equitable workplaces in the long term.
