The Sports Volunteer Camp for Community Development Project was an initiative led by the Faculty of Sport Science at Burapha University, specifically by faculty and students from the Sport Management and Teaching program. Held from November 16-20, 2024, the project was conducted at two local schools: Ban Sak Phutsa School and Wat Nong Kanum School in Chonburi province. The fundamental concept behind this project was to create a practical application for the academic knowledge gained in the “Sports and Community Development” course. It was designed as a bridge between classroom theory and real-world practice, enabling students to use their expertise to provide academic services that directly benefit schools and communities in Thailand’s eastern region. The project aimed to not only contribute to community development but also to provide students with invaluable hands-on experience, fostering a deep-seated sense of social responsibility and the spirit of volunteerism.
The project was established with three core objectives to guide its activities and desired outcomes: To integrate academic knowledge with community service, enabling students to apply theoretical concepts from the “Sports and Community Development” course to practical activities.
This objective focused on using their education to actively develop local schools and communities. To promote and instill a “Jit Arsa” (volunteer spirit) mindset among the students. The project aimed to encourage a sense of sacrifice for the common good and social responsibility, providing students with authentic learning and working experiences outside the university. To sustainably improve the school and community environment. This included enhancing teaching and learning processes, upgrading the physical surroundings of the schools, and promoting the long-term health and well-being of both the students and the wider community
