IS One Day Trip

IS One Day Trip

Environmental conservation has become an issue of significant global concern, as evidenced by increasingly severe climate changes that have affected populations in various regions around the world. This pressing issue requires urgent attention. Recognising the importance of environmental conservation, the Department of Information Studies has initiated a project to raise university students’ awareness of the seriousness of environmental problems and strategies for mitigating their impacts. This initiative has organised activities to provide students with opportunities to learn about ecosystems, human habitation, and the interdependence between humans, forests, and wildlife. These efforts are intended to foster a sense of environmental and wildlife conservation awareness, ultimately contributing to a more balanced and sustainable way of life.

Project Coordinator: Dr.KNITCHEPON CHOTCHANTARAKUN and Asst. Prof. Dr.KWANCHADIL PISALPHONG

Objectives:

The event aimed to give first- and second-year students a hands-on learning experience about ecosystems and the importance of biodiversity. This activity also allows students to understand the ecological value of natural water sources in Chonburi Province and the significance of conserving aquatic environments for long-term sustainability.

Program Activities:

On July 17, 2025, the Department of Information Studies, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Burapha University, organised the IS One Day Trip at Bang Phra Waterbird Breeding Station and the Bang Phra Reservoir, Chonburi Province, with a total of 91 participants. One of the highlights was learning about the care and rehabilitation of disabled wildlife that can no longer survive in the wild due to injuries or human interference. These animals are compassionately cared for until the end of their natural lives. Additionally, students joined together to plant mulberry trees, which will one day grow and bear leaves and fruits to sustainably feed animals in the area. After visiting the breeding station, the group continued exploring the freshwater ecosystem to the Bang Phra Reservoir.

Expected Outcomes (Impacts):

This meaningful outdoor activity broadened students’ environmental perspectives and aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 15 (SDG 15) and Burapha University’s “Green University” strategy. The trip also served as a platform for developing essential 21st-century life and citizenship skills, including environmental awareness, social responsibility, and teamwork —nurturing a new generation of citizens ready to care for the planet.
