Participation in Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai, Osaka, Japan

Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai will be held on Yumeshima Island, Osaka, Japan, from April 13 to October 13, 2025. With the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” the Expo will highlight global cooperation and innovation in areas such as health, science, digital connectivity, and clean energy. The venue, developed by the Japanese government, will serve as a hub for technology and innovation, positioning the event as a global stage for new ideas.

The Department of Health Service Support (DHSS), Ministry of Public Health of Thailand, has selected Burapha University to participate in two key exhibition programs:

  • Peace, Human Security and Dignity (in collaboration with Sathira-Dhammasathan) and Herbal Products and Wellness Tourism, from August 1–12, 2025.

  • Learning and Training Center for Herbal Product Development and Herbal Health Care, from August 13–31, 2025.

Through these exhibitions, Burapha University will showcase its expertise in lifelong learning, Thai cultural identity, and innovative herbal products developed by researchers and faculty. The exhibition will also serve as a platform for knowledge transfer, cultural exchange, and wellness innovation, while strengthening Thailand’s global presence in health, wellness, and sustainable development.

Objectives

  1. Showcase Thai herbal research and innovations developed by university researchers and faculty, enhancing the international image of Thai herbal products.

  2. Build collaboration and networks among domestic entrepreneurs, private sector organizations, and local communities to develop herbal products that meet global market demands.

  3. Promote wellness tourism by integrating herbal knowledge with tourism services, attracting international visitors to Eastern Thailand.

  4. Present Thailand’s role as a leader in peace and human security, fostering global understanding and cooperation.

  5. Demonstrate the potential of Burapha University in lifelong learning, offering learning programs that reflect Thai identity on an international stage.

Project Activities

  1. Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences – Led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Nuttinee Teerakulkittipong, Dean of the Faculty, together with faculty members and students, presenting herbal innovations such as:

    • Skincare products from Andrographis paniculata and Centella asiatica extracts (by Asst. Prof. Dr. Watcharapong Jamsawang).

    • Prolis B Plus mouth spray from stingless bee resin and mangosteen peel extract (by Asst. Prof. Dr. Natthathun Charoensriwilawat).

    • Herbal compressed toothpaste tablets (by Asst. Prof. Dr. Nuttinee Teerakulkittipong, in collaboration with Mabueang Community Enterprise, Chonburi).

    • Nano-bio gel cosmeceuticals, serums, and sleeping masks from rice, radish, and turnip extracts.
      The booth will also feature Calm-Relax workshops, DIY herbal product workshops, and product testing activities. Collaboration with private companies such as Bangkok Lab & Cosmetic PCL and GREATER PHARMA Co., Ltd. will further highlight wellness products designed for the global market.

  2. Collaboration with Sathira-Dhammasathan – Led by Khun Phanwadee Amornmaneekul and a team of Thai-Japanese youth volunteers, showcasing the vision of a “Spiritual Wellness Community” guided by the principles of Care – Share – Respect, emphasizing mindfulness, compassion, and intercultural harmony.

  3. Lifelong Learning Division – Led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Marut Tangwatanachuleeporn, Vice President for Academic Services and Lifelong Learning, presenting Burapha University’s strengths in lifelong education. Exhibitions include Thai traditional massage workshops, Thai-identity learning courses, and innovative products that bridge Thai heritage with global knowledge exchange.

  4. Research and Innovation Management Division – Led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Niramol Thamviriyasati, Acting Vice President for Research and Innovation, featuring intellectual property and research outcomes such as:

    • Herbal massage oil from salacca extract (by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Theerapit Subongkot).

    • Skincare gel from Cladophora green algae extract (by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arpa Petsumrit).

    • Ready-to-drink collagen beverage from sea cucumber (by Dr. Janjarat Watanachoti).

    • Industry-partnered innovations supported by the Eastern Science Park, such as Suwan Spray Betapinene, a natural pain relief product from organic kaffir lime extract.

Expected Impacts

  1. Enhance Burapha University’s international visibility in research, education, peacebuilding, and wellness innovation.

  2. Translate university-led innovations into practical applications with economic value, strengthening global collaboration in health, economy, wellness tourism, and sustainable development.

  3. Promote peace, human security, and global cooperation through knowledge sharing and intercultural understanding.
