Knowledge and Research Dissemination Activity on Gems and Jewelry at Central Sriracha

          On May 20, 2025, faculty and students from the Faculty of Gems, Burapha University, Chanthaburi Campus, organised a Higher Education Promotion Activity at Central Si Racha, Chonburi Province. This initiative aimed to disseminate knowledge and present academic works related to gems and jewellery, while also introducing the Faculty’s undergraduate programs to local students and the public. The event successfully showcased research and educational outcomes, promoting gem and jewellery science, fostering interest in higher education, and supporting sustainable development through educational access, skill enhancement, and industry innovation.

Objectives:

          The event aimed to present academic works, disseminate knowledge related to gems and jewellery, and introduce the Faculty’s undergraduate programs to students and the public in the Si Racha district. Representatives from several educational institutions attended, including Darasamutr School, Assumption College Sriracha, Sriracha School, and Surasak Wittayakom School.

Program Activities:

          The event featured various exhibitions and presentations, including gemstone faceting, carving, design, and production. These showcases reflected faculty research and the teaching and learning outcomes of the Faculty of Gems’ three academic programs: Gems and Jewellery Technology, Jewellery Design, and Gems and Jewellery Business. Additionally, a hands-on jewellery-making workshop allowed participants to create handmade jewellery. Lecturer Akadath Thisupakorn conducted the workshop and program presentations from the Gems and Jewellery Business Program; Assistant Professor Suparee Taowongsa from the Jewellery Design Program; Mr. Pornpitak Sutham, Academic Officer; and students from the Faculty of Gems. They provided information about the academic programs, explained course content, and demonstrated jewellery-making techniques.

Expected Outcomes (Impacts):

          This activity aimed to promote learning and raise awareness about gem and jewellery science among youth and the public in Si Racha. Furthermore, it served as a platform to present research findings, academic works, and teaching and learning outcomes from the Faculty’s three educational programs. The event also aimed to introduce higher education curricula to local students, fostering continued interest in further study and skill development within the gems and jewellery industry. The activity aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by promoting equitable access to education, enhancing essential skills for youth career development, encouraging innovation and research to advance the industry, and fostering collaboration between educational institutions and local communities. Collectively, these efforts contribute to improving the quality of life, increasing educational opportunities, and supporting sustainable economic and social development at the regional and national levels.
