The Eastern Science Park of Burapha University (EASTPARK) organized the training program “AI Transformation for Tourism SMEs” under the Frontier Technology initiative from 22–24 April 2026 at EEC Automation Park, Burapha University. The program aimed to equip tourism entrepreneurs with the knowledge and skills needed to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to enhance business operations, improve competitiveness, and successfully adapt to the digital economy.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Dr. Tanongsak Thepsonthi, Director of the Eastern Science Park, Burapha University, who welcomed participants and highlighted the objectives of the Frontier Technology program in promoting the adoption of emerging technologies and innovations among Thai entrepreneurs. The initiative reflects EASTPARK’s commitment to strengthening the technological capabilities of businesses and supporting digital transformation across the tourism sector.
The program featured distinguished experts in technology and innovation who shared their knowledge and practical experiences. These included Dr. Chananan Dechadilok, an expert in digital marketing and community-based tourism development through technology and social media from the Faculty of Business Administration, Burapha University, and Assistant Professor Duangkamol Neerapattanakul, a specialist in community capacity development and the integration of local products with community identity from the Faculty of Business Administration, Burapha University.
The AI Transformation for Tourism SMEs curriculum was specifically designed to enhance the capabilities of tourism-related businesses, including hotels, restaurants, spas, tour operators, and other service providers. Participants gained insights into applying AI technologies in customer service management, data-driven decision-making, human resource management, marketing budget planning, and operational efficiency improvement. These competencies are essential for businesses seeking to strengthen their competitive advantage and achieve sustainable growth in an increasingly digitalized environment.
This training program represents another key mechanism through which EASTPARK supports Thai entrepreneurs in accessing modern technologies, innovation, and knowledge resources. In addition, the initiative fosters collaboration among academia, industry, and local communities, creating valuable networks that contribute to the sustainable development of the tourism and service sectors.
The project aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, by enhancing the competitiveness and productivity of SMEs; SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, through the promotion and application of AI-driven innovation and digital technologies; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by strengthening cooperation among universities, experts, businesses, and communities to advance sustainable economic development in the digital era.
