Maritime transport is essential to international trade, accounting for over 90 percent of global cargo movement. Given its specialized operations, legal professionals must understand maritime transport systems and practices. Chonburi Province, home to Burapha University, is a key maritime logistics hub due to Laem Chabang Port and its location within the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). To enhance student competencies, the Department of Law has organized this project to prepare new-generation lawyers with knowledge and skills in maritime and international trade law, supporting sustainable economic growth and infrastructure development in the EEC under the theme “The Maritime and Port Sector in the Mid-2020s.”
The aims:
1.To enable students to understand the fundamentals of port operations, maritime transportation, and the global maritime supply chain.
2.To equip students with the ability to apply the acquired knowledge to their legal studies and future professional practice.
3.To provide students with opportunities to exchange knowledge and insights on these topics with international experts.
A special lecture on “The Maritime and Port Sector in the Mid-2020s” was delivered by Professor Dr. Yves Perraudeau from the University of Nantes, France. The lecture conveyed academic knowledge and professional experience in the maritime transport and port sectors within an international context, reflecting the systematic integration of scholarly expertise to enhance students’ competencies.
The impacts
1.The project aims to enable students to develop a deeper understanding of maritime transportation and to effectively apply the acquired knowledge to related courses, particularly maritime law and international trade law.
2.The project seeks to enhance the academic and professional capacity of law students through structured knowledge exchange and practical insights shared by an experienced international guest lecturer.
