Royal Commencement Ceremony at Burapha University:Advancing Sustainable Event Management

Burapha University organized the Royal Commencement Ceremony for graduates of the Academic Year 2024 on 16–17 January 2026 at Thamrong Buasri Auditorium, Burapha University, Chonburi Province. Beyond honoring graduates and upholding the dignity of the royal ceremony, the University placed strong emphasis on environmental responsibility and sustainability throughout the event.

As the ceremony was a large-scale activity involving a significant number of staff and personnel from various units, extensive preparation was required, particularly in the provision of food and drinking water for those performing duties from early morning until late evening. To address potential environmental impacts, Burapha University implemented a strict environmental management plan approximately two weeks prior to the event, aiming to minimize waste generation, reduce food loss, and lower the overall carbon footprint.

SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production

Burapha University prioritized efficient resource management, especially in food services and material usage during the ceremony. Careful planning was undertaken to ensure appropriate food quantities in line with actual demand, thereby reducing food waste. In addition, systematic waste management measures were implemented, including waste separation and proper disposal, to ensure that waste generation was kept to a minimum throughout the event.

These practices reflect the University’s commitment to responsible consumption and production, demonstrating the practical integration of SDG 12 principles into institutional operations and large-scale event management.

SDG 13: Climate Action

Efforts to reduce waste, minimize food loss, and manage resources efficiently also contributed to lowering greenhouse gas emissions associated with food production, transportation, and waste disposal. These actions play a role in mitigating climate change and align with the objectives of SDG 13.

Burapha University’s approach goes beyond policy statements, demonstrating concrete and measurable actions to address climate change through environmentally responsible event planning and implementation.

Sustainability through Action

The Royal Commencement Ceremony exemplifies Burapha University’s commitment not only to organizational excellence but also to social and environmental responsibility. The University firmly believes that producing high-quality graduates while fostering environmental awareness and sustainable practices forms the foundation of a resilient and sustainable future.
