The Faculty of Sports Science in collaboration with the Office of Student Affairs has established the BUU House Operations Center to provide sports science services during the 51st Thailand University Games, Central Region Qualifying Round, held at Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, Pathum Thani Province. This initiative represents a strategic integration of academic excellence with practical student development activities. The project addresses the critical need for comprehensive sports science support for university athletes, ensuring they can compete at their optimal physical and mental capacity. By establishing a mobile service unit that operates both on-site at competition venues and at the center’s base location, the project bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application. The center serves as a platform for students from all three academic programs offered by the faculty to apply their expertise in serving the community. This initiative not only supports Burapha University athletes in achieving their full potential but also creates valuable networking opportunities between various stakeholders in the university sports ecosystem. The project emphasizes the importance of sports science application in competitive sports at various levels, promoting evidence-based practices in athletic performance and injury prevention .
The project aims to integrate academic teaching and learning with student development activities by applying knowledge from the three academic disciplines offered by the faculty in providing academic services to society. The primary objective is to promote and support Burapha University athletes in maintaining optimal physical and mental fitness, enabling them to compete at their full capability and potential, ultimately achieving success in competitions. Another key objective is to develop professional skills and enhance practical experience for students and staff through hands-on work in real competitive environments. The project seeks to establish a collaborative network among the Office of Student Affairs, Faculty of Sports Science, Burapha University, and related organizations to promote the significance of applying sports science in competitions at various levels. Additionally, the initiative aims to demonstrate the practical value of sports science education while creating opportunities for students to develop competencies that align with professional standards in the field. The project also serves to strengthen the university’s commitment to excellence in sports and athlete welfare.
The BUU House Operations Center for Burapha University athletes operates as a mobile unit traveling to competition venues while also providing services at the center’s base location. The center delivers comprehensive services across three main domains. In Sport Science, the center provides sports massage therapy, taping for injury reduction and prevention, cold therapy for post-competition recovery, and basic first aid services. In Sport Mass Communication, the center handles public relations and information dissemination about competitions for Burapha University athletes, along with documentation and recording of competitive events. In Sport Management, the center oversees the overall administration and program scheduling of BUU House Operations Center services, conducts meetings for evaluation and summary of results, and provides various facilitating services to ensure smooth operations. The mobile nature of the service delivery allows immediate support at competition venues while the base center provides a comprehensive facility for pre-competition preparation and post-competition recovery. All services are provided by qualified students and staff under professional supervision, ensuring quality standards are maintained throughout.
The project generated significant positive impacts across multiple dimensions. Student participants gained invaluable practical experience in applying sports science knowledge in real competitive settings, enhancing their professional competencies and readiness for careers in sports-related fields. Burapha University athletes received comprehensive sports science support that contributed to improved performance, reduced injury rates, and enhanced recovery processes, enabling them to compete more effectively. The collaborative network established between the Faculty of Sports Science, Office of Student Affairs, and external organizations strengthened institutional partnerships and created sustainable models for future cooperation. The project demonstrated the practical value of sports science education to the broader university community and external stakeholders, raising awareness about evidence-based approaches to athletic performance. Students developed critical soft skills including teamwork, problem-solving, and professional communication through direct interaction with athletes and coaches. The initiative enhanced the reputation of Burapha University’s sports science programs while providing a service-learning model that could be replicated in other contexts. Athletes reported improved confidence and satisfaction with the support services, contributing to overall team morale and performance outcomes in the competition.
