Artificial Intelligence (AI) supports research across all disciplines, including data retrieval, statistical analysis, modelling, and academic writing. Therefore, researchers, lecturers, and students need knowledge and skills in applying AI correctly, appropriately, and ethically to enhance the quality and efficiency of academic work. Developing an online course in the form of a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) provides opportunities for learners to access knowledge anytime, anywhere, and without limitations on the number of participants, thereby supporting lifelong learning. This project is significant in creating an easily accessible learning resource, disseminating knowledge to the public, and supporting the university’s and the nation’s digital and innovation policies. Furthermore, it fosters a network of researchers capable of utilising AI to elevate research quality and aligns with the Sustainable Development Goal on education (SDG4), emphasising quality and equitable education.
Project Coordinator: Ms. Yuwatida Yanintorn
Objectives:
- Learners can describe the role of AI in research.
- Learners can use AI tools to search for research information.
- Learners can analyse data using AI tools.
- Learners can produce research writing using AI tools.
- Learners recognise the importance of ethics and precautions when applying AI in research.
Program Activities:
The project to develop the online course “Application of AI in Research” in MOOC format will be implemented systematically, beginning with planning and curriculum design, setting clear course structures and learning outcomes. The project team will then develop content and teaching materials, including lessons, videos, infographics, and quizzes, before integrating them into the BUU MOOC system of the university to allow learners to access the course anytime, anywhere. Additionally, the project will continuously monitor and evaluate its effectiveness to inform future course development in line with societal needs.
Expected Outcomes (Impacts):
The development of the online course “Application of AI in Research” in MOOC format creates a digital learning resource that is open and easily accessible to students, lecturers, researchers, and the general public. It enhances digital skills and the ability to conduct research with AI correctly and ethically. The project promotes lifelong learning and builds a collaborative learning network among learners from diverse fields. Ultimately, it contributes to disseminating knowledge to society, enhances the university’s image as a leader in educational innovation, and supports national digital policies and SDG4, emphasising quality and equitable education.
Date of Implementation: Fiscal Year 2025 (B.E. 2568)
