Academic Service to External Organizations “Physical Fitness Testing for students of Vajiravudh College”

The Faculty of Sport Science at Burapha University has established a core mission of providing academic services to the community, leveraging its expertise in the science and knowledge of sport. A key objective of this mission is to promote and develop sports and health-related exercise, aiming to enhance athletic potential and improve the overall quality of life for the public. To achieve this, the Faculty delivers academic services through various formats. These include initiatives designed to build knowledge and understanding in specialised areas such as sport science, sports nutrition, and sports psychology.

Furthermore, the Faculty offers expertise in developing training programs, providing leadership in exercise and sports, conducting physical fitness testing, and organising sports competitions, recreational activities, and team-building events. Through these diverse activities, the Faculty aims to respond effectively to the needs of the community, society, and the nation, positioning itself as a key academic resource for external organisations. Project Implementation: Physical Fitness Testing for Vajiravudh College. In line with this commitment, Vajiravudh College formally requested the Faculty’s assistance conducting physical fitness assessments for its students and personnel. The request was detailed in the official letter, No. VC 413/2568, dated June 16, 2025.

Objectives:

1.To Provide Expert Academic Services to an External Organization through the Administration of Physical Fitness Testing for Vajiravudh College Students. The resulting data will serve multiple purposes for Vajiravudh College. It will establish a critical baseline of student fitness, enabling the school’s educators and coaches to identify areas for improvement, tailor physical education curricula more effectively, and detect promising athletic talent. Furthermore, this initiative promotes a culture of health and wellness within the school, educating students on the importance of physical activity and providing them with a greater awareness of their fitness levels. This service represents a direct application of sport science knowledge to foster a healthier, more active generation and strengthens the university’s role as a dedicated partner in community development.

2.To Cultivate Professional Experience in Sport Science for the Faculty’s Students through Their Active Participation in Delivering Academic and Fitness Testing Services. This immersive experience is crucial for their professional development. They will hone practical competencies specific to sport science, such as correctly administering assessment protocols and managing data. Equally important, they will cultivate essential soft skills, including clear communication with students and staff, effective teamwork, problem-solving, and professional conduct. By engaging directly in an academic service project, our students gain a deeper understanding of their future roles as sport science professionals and the positive impact they can have on society. This hands-on training is instrumental in preparing a new generation of skilled, confident, and socially responsible graduates ready to excel in their careers.

Program Activities:

A fundamental mission of the Faculty of Sport Science is to extend its academic expertise beyond the university campus to benefit the wider community. This objective directly addresses that mission by delivering a specialised, high-value service to Vajiravudh College. The physical fitness testing initiative is designed to provide the school with comprehensive, data-driven insights into its student body’s physical health and athletic capabilities. By utilising standardised scientific protocols and equipment, our faculty and students will assess key components of fitness, such as cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, flexibility, and body composition. Concurrent with our community outreach, this project is strategically designed as a pivotal experiential learning opportunity for our Sport Science students. While classroom instruction provides essential theoretical knowledge, this initiative offers an invaluable platform for students to translate that theory into practice in a real-world, professional setting. Under the direct supervision of experienced faculty members, our students will be actively involved in all project phases, from initial planning and coordination with Vajiravudh College to the hands-on administration of the fitness tests, data collection, and subsequent analysis.

Expected Outcomes (Impacts):

Project Outcomes and Impact The academic service project, “Physical Fitness Test for Vajiravudh College Students,” has achieved its core objectives, yielding significant benefits for both the recipient institution and the Faculty of Sport Science students. The initiative is a prime example of the Faculty’s commitment to community engagement and experiential learning. 1. Successful Delivery of Academic Services to an External Partner The Faculty of Sport Science effectively provided a valuable academic service to Vajiravudh College by conducting a comprehensive physical fitness assessment for its student body.

This professional service delivered tangible, data-driven insights into the students’ health, fitness levels, and athletic potential. The collected data is vital for the college’s physical education department. It enables them to refine their curriculum, identify students who may require specific health interventions, and recognise emerging athletic talent. 2. Enhancement of Professional Experience for Sport Science Students.

This project’s profound impact on our students’ professional development was a significant achievement. By actively participating in every stage of this initiative—from planning and coordination to the hands-on administration of fitness tests and data management—our students gained invaluable real-world experience. This immersive learning environment allowed them to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge acquired in the classroom and its practical application in a professional context.
