Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming and plays a vital role in driving national development across all sectors. However, Thailand still faces a critical shortage of AI professionals, making workforce development in this field an urgent mission.
Over the past four years, the Super AI Engineer Project, supported by government agencies and the Artificial Intelligence Association of Thailand, has cultivated AI personnel at three levels—basic, intermediate, and advanced—through online learning, hands-on workshops, and real-world problem solving. This initiative has created a strong AI workforce network both domestically and internationally.
The project has produced over 500 high-competency AI professionals, attracted more than 15,000 AI learners, and built partnerships with more than 100 organizations. Graduates have achieved significant outcomes, including increased income, international scholarships, and successful startup ventures.
In response to the fast-evolving nature of AI technology, the project has now expanded into “Super AI X”, focusing on developing three target groups: AI Innovators, AI Engineers, and AI Researchers. These groups are expected not only to become practitioners but also future instructors and entrepreneurs, thereby expanding the knowledge base and fostering an innovation-driven economy.
This project is therefore crucial to strengthening Thailand’s AI capabilities, supporting sustainable development through life-long learning platforms and standard training centers (AI Academy), and advancing strategic technologies such as the Thai Large Language Model to enhance global competitiveness.
Objectives
To develop AI talent capable of entering the industry at the entry level (AI Innovator).
To cultivate and incubate AI professionals for industry and startup ventures.
To support and develop AI instructors who can share and exchange knowledge.
To create an ecosystem that encourages AI learning at the grassroots level for the wider public.
To strengthen collaboration with regional coordination centers and key stakeholders at both national and international levels, including academic institutions, government agencies, and the private sector.
Implementation
The project, Super AI X Development – Track: AI Innovator, recruited participants from Thailand’s Eastern region, including students, university learners, public and private sector personnel, and the general public. Participants received AI training and mentorship, then collaborated in teams to develop AI innovations addressing real challenges in health, agriculture, education, and industry. Expert mentors from Burapha University and Rajabhat Rajanagarindra University guided the process.
A key highlight was the AI Innovator Pitching Day, held on July 5, 2025, where teams presented their solutions. Three outstanding teams were awarded:
RaoBotHub: An AI-powered customizable chatbot with a Web UI.
Jintamaya Panya: An automated ice sack detection and counting system.
INNOTECH: “Non-Worry Care,” an AI chatbot for supporting parents of autistic children.
These projects stood out for creativity, technology integration, and practical application. The winning teams represented the Eastern Regional Center at the AI Thailand Forum.
Impact
Development of 11 AI innovation prototypes addressing real community and sectoral challenges in health, agriculture, education, and industry.
Enhanced technical and applied AI knowledge and skills among participants.
Strengthened collaboration among academia, government, private sector, and communities in innovation development.
Expanded AI talent networks in the Eastern region, linked to the national level.
Award-winning teams gained opportunities to showcase their work at the AI Thailand Forum, fostering innovation scaling and new collaborations.
