Public Lecture Series “The Next Genderation: Powering Equality for All Abilities, All Genders, All Lives” Celebrating the 71st Anniversary of Burapha University and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences

On the occasion of the 71st anniversary of Burapha University and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, this public lecture series was organized to reflect the Faculty’s continuous dedication to promoting social equality and advancing SDG 5 (Gender Equality). The project served as an open platform for interdisciplinary discussions, bringing together academic staff, students, international visiting scholars, and the public to exchange views on gender roles, diversity, aging populations, and social inclusion.

The aims

1. To celebrate the 71st anniversary of Burapha University and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences while affirming commitment to SDG 5 (Gender Equality).

2. To raise awareness and foster deep understanding regarding gender equality in education and broader societal contexts through interactive public lectures.

3. To support the Faculty’s core mission aligned with Education Criteria for Performance Excellence (EdPEx).

The hybrid program was conducted across 3 sessions (July 9, 16, and 23, 2026) in both online formats and at Phibunsongkhram Room, featuring 11 expert speakers across various disciplines:

1. Session 1 (July 9, Online): Topics covered gender-based financial victimization, oral histories of elderly community members, and equitable long-term elder care policies.

2. Session 2 (July 16, On-site/Online): Included the annual declaration of gender equality achievements, lectures on the solo-traveling “Me-Moon” trend among women, youth empowerment for inclusive growth, and Eastern region urban gentrification.

3. Session 3 (July 23, Online): Featured international insights on “Gender, Culture and Media” by Philippine Visiting Scholar Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kriztine R. Viray, along with discussions on modern feminism in the attention economy, trans-man transition preparation, youth perspective on gender roles, and local female identity history.

2. Delivered open-access, interdisciplinary knowledge across humanities and social sciences to over 100 faculty members, students, and external attendees.

3. Built international academic exchanges by engaging visiting scholars and fostering cross-cultural dialogue on gender and media studies.
