Academic Service Project during Pharmacy Week 2026

Academic Service Project during Pharmacy Week 2026

The pharmacy profession plays an important role in health promotion, disease prevention, and the promotion of rational drug use, ensuring that people are able to use medicines correctly, safely, and effectively. These roles are essential to the development of the healthcare system. Therefore, the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Burapha University, organized an academic service project in conjunction with Pharmacy Week 2026 at Pattaya Patamakun Hospital, Chon Buri Province, with the aim of disseminating knowledge on precision health, rational drug use, and health promotion to the public. The project featured practical activities, consultations provided by pharmacist lecturers, and active participation from students of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The project also integrated the university’s academic service mission with teaching and learning, providing students with opportunities to learn from real-life situations, develop professional skills, strengthen their communication skills with the public, work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, and foster a strong sense of social responsibility. These experiences contribute to the development of graduates whose competencies are aligned with the needs of the country and support the sustainable development of the healthcare system.

Objectives of the Project

  1. To disseminate knowledge on precision health and rational drug use to the public.
  2. To promote health literacy among the public, enabling people to use medicines and take care of their own health safely and appropriately.
  3. To provide the public with consultations and advice on medicines and health from pharmacists and expert faculty members.
  4. To develop the professional skills, communication skills, and practical learning experiences of students of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
  5. To establish collaboration among the university, hospitals, and health networks in promoting the sustainable health and well-being of the public.

Project Implementation

The project included a range of practical and academic service activities. These included a workshop on making herbal inhalers, a lecture on precision health and appropriate healthcare tailored to the individual characteristics of each person, as well as academic services for the community on proper medication use. The activities also provided opportunities for members of the public to receive consultations and advice on appropriate medication use from pharmacist faculty members. These activities were designed to promote rational drug use, enhance health literacy, and improve the quality of life of the public.

The academic service project generated shared value among the university, the community, and healthcare organizations. Members of the public gained knowledge and pharmaceutical services that contributed to improved health literacy and quality of life. At the same time, students developed their professional competencies through hands-on experience, while the university strengthened collaborative networks to support community health. The project is consistent with the university’s missions in academic services, quality graduate development, and sustainable social development. It also supports the principles of Precision Health and contributes to the long-term development of the country’s healthcare system.
