Digital Teacher Skill Development to Enhance Learning and Foster Youth Innovation (NSC Decode)

Digital Teacher Skill Development to Enhance Learning and Foster Youth Innovation (NSC Decode)

Despite Thailand’s strong potential in the software sector, a critical shortage of tech talent remains a challenge to boosting the country’s global competitiveness. Stepping up to this challenge, the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC), in partnership with academic institutions, has been continuously hosting the National Software Contest (NSC). The project is designed to awaken a passion for software development among Thai youth and provides a premier national arena for them to showcase their skills. Proudly supporting this initiative, the Faculty of Informatics at Burapha University acts as the Eastern Regional Coordination Center, actively spearheading the activities and empowering young developers across the region.

This initiative elevates education quality by enhancing digital competency, analytical thinking, and innovation for educators and youth. It aligns with Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education) promoting lifelong learning, and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through strong inter-agency collaboration. A core mission is equipping the younger generation with the skills needed to thrive in the digital economy. Serving as an inspirational platform, the project focuses on three key objectives: • Promoting Youth Development: Supporting computer software development for students across all educational levels. • Upskilling for the Future: Enhancing project proposal skills (Upskill/Reskill) to build a solid foundation for digital entrepreneurship. • Creating Impactful Personnel: Developing a skilled workforce capable of creating diverse software prototypes for real-world applications.

This initiative operates as a dynamic hybrid program, seamlessly integrating an academic competition with capacity building. It conducts practical workshops to elevate digital competencies and provides funding grants to developers to create innovative solutions that benefit society. Highlighting this commitment, the Faculty of Informatics at Burapha University hosted a two-day Upskill/Reskill workshop on March 26–27, 2026. Titled “Developing Digital Teacher Skills to Elevate Learning and Promote Youth Innovation (NSC Decode),” the event targeted Eastern region educators and youth. Participants engaged in hands-on learning, mastering project proposal writing, idea generation, problem analysis, and the ethical use of AI prompts. Driving these efforts, the Faculty proudly serves as the Eastern Regional Coordination Center. In this pivotal role, it oversees proposal selection for funding, coordinates judging committees, and provides vital guidance to participating developers and their advisors.

Throughout the project, participants underwent intensive incubation in digital and innovation skills. This comprehensive training encompassed problem analysis, idea generation, project proposal writing, and developing projects tailored to meet NSC requirements. It also emphasized the ethical use of AI, alongside essential soft skills like teamwork and effective presentation. This holistic approach generated three primary outcomes: • Human Capital Development: Elevating the digital competencies of youth and educators across the Eastern region, equipping them to become successful entrepreneurs and leading software industry professionals. • Strong Ecosystem: Reinforcing the regional innovation ecosystem through synergistic collaboration between the government sector (NECTEC), universities, and basic educational institutions. • Global Standards: Providing outstanding projects the opportunity to compete for the Royal Trophy and represent Thailand at the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards, bringing pride to the nation.
