Student Volunteer Initiative: Caring for the Environment and Society

Student Volunteer Initiative: Caring for the Environment and Society

To encourage students to develop a sense of social responsibility through volunteer engagement, the Department of Psychology organised an activity named Student Volunteer Initiative: Caring for the Environment and Society. Its initiative aims to promote active participation in community-based activities while raising awareness of environmental conservation and pollution reduction, in line with the HUSO GO GREEN policy. The activity contributes to SDG13: Climate Action by addressing environmental challenges and reducing pollution. It also supports SDG14: Life Below Water by protecting marine ecosystems and coastal environments.

Project Coordinator: Dr. Nissara Khammanee

Objectives:

– To encourage students to engage actively in volunteer activities that contribute to society, fostering a sense of responsibility, teamwork, and civic-mindedness through hands-on community service experiences.

– To raise awareness of environmental conservation and pollution reduction in line with the HUSO GO GREEN policy.

Program Activities:

Students were organised into groups to carry out volunteer activities at various community sites. Expected Outcomes (Impacts):

– Students demonstrated a stronger sense of social responsibility through active participation in volunteer work.

– Awareness of environmental conservation and pollution reduction was significantly enhanced, with participants gaining a clearer understanding of sustainable practices and their real-world applications.

– The activities contributed to cleaner public spaces and supported local environmental efforts, particularly in coastal areas.
