Burapha University Students Promote Brain Health Among Older Adults in Saensuk

The activity was conducted as part of the project “Good Memory, No Retirement.” The program was organised by third-year students from the Faculty of Public Health, Burapha University, on March 2, 2026, at the Elderly Development Center of Saensuk Municipality, Chonburi Province. The activity involved 20 community-dwelling older adults aged 60 years and above. The project aimed to promote brain health and enhance cognitive function among older adults through educational sessions and brain-stimulation activities.

Project Coordinator: Associate Professor Dr. Patchana Jaidee

Objectives:

The project aimed to enhance knowledge and awareness of dementia among older adults. Participants were expected to identify at least three warning signs of dementia after attending the educational session. In addition, the activity aimed to enable participants to perform the brain stimulation exercises introduced during the program correctly and to explain at least one way to apply these exercises in their daily lives.

Program Activities:

The project consisted of six main activities, including participant registration and project orientation. Educational sessions on dementia were delivered under the topic “Brain Check-up: Recognising Warning Signs and Reviving Memory.” Practical brain-stimulation activities, such as “Read the Colour, Not the Word” and “See and Draw,” were conducted. Participants also practised three brain exercises to stimulate both hemispheres of the brain. The program concluded with a knowledge review and a seven-day follow-up through a Line Open Chat group.

Expected Outcomes (Impacts):

The project successfully improved participants’ understanding of dementia and its warning signs, enabling them to distinguish between normal age-related forgetfulness and dementia symptoms. Elderly participants performed brain stimulation activities correctly and expressed confidence in continuing these exercises in their daily lives. The activity also encouraged positive attitudes toward brain health, increased motivation to engage in regular cognitive exercise, and strengthened social interaction and well-being among participants.
