Soft Skills Development Program: Driving Gender Equality and Social Inclusion

          On 12 February 2026, the Department of Thai Language, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Burapha University, organised a Soft Skills Development Program to prepare students before undertaking their professional internships. Dr Kwankanit Sae-ung delivered the session from the Innovation Learning Center (ILC). The program was designed in response to the growing need for graduates who are not only academically competent but also socially aware and professionally prepared. In addition to strengthening essential workplace skills, the activity emphasised gender equality and social inclusion as core values in both academic and professional settings. This initiative supports Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Gender Equality) by promoting awareness, respect, and equal participation across genders.

Objectives:

– To raise awareness of gender equality and inclusive practices in professional environments. – To prepare students with essential soft skills before their internship placements.
– To encourage respectful and equitable attitudes among students of different genders.
– To enhance students’ readiness to contribute responsibly in diverse workplaces.

Program Activities:

          The program was conducted as an interactive workshop led by an expert from the Innovation Learning Center. The session focused on key soft skills such as communication, teamwork, adaptability, and professional ethics, which are essential for working with people of different genders. Discussions also addressed gender sensitivity and inclusive behaviour in workplace contexts. Students were invited to reflect on real-life situations and consider how fairness and mutual respect can be applied in their future professional roles.

Expected Outcomes (Impacts):

          Students showed greater awareness of gender equality and inclusive conduct relevant to internship and workplace environments. The program strengthened their confidence and prepared them to work in diverse organisational settings. By integrating gender-sensitive perspectives into professional skill development, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences continues to promote a learning environment that values equality and responsible citizenship.
