BUU Cultural Trip 2026

BUU Cultural Trip 2026

Burapha University, through its Global Relations Center, has demonstrated its leadership in international education in Thailand’s Eastern Region through the implementation of the BUU Cultural Trip, held during 7–8 February 2026. This proactive initiative was specifically designed to enhance the holistic learning experience of international students across academic, social, cultural, and sustainability dimensions. The program welcomed 22 international students from diverse countries and academic levels. Beyond providing opportunities for learning outside the classroom, the project served as a strategic mechanism for creating a meaningful learning experience that deepened students’ understanding of Thailand’s local context while simultaneously fostering essential global citizenship competencies.

Guided by the concept of Community-Based and Experiential Learning, participating students engaged directly with local communities to explore traditional ways of life, local wisdom, and creative economies. Activities included a hands-on bamboo wristband workshop at the Traditional Bamboo Handicraft Center, Phanat Nikhom District, reflecting sustainable resource use and the preservation of local craftsmanship. This was followed by tie-dye activities, learning about community-based production processes, and tasting coconut coffee at the Takhian Tia Community Enterprise, Chonburi Province, which emphasized sustainable living practices, environmental conservation, and responsible eco-tourism management. The program concluded with an immersive cultural experience at Nong Nooch Tropical Garden, Pattaya, where students learned about Thai arts, culture, and nature-based tourism management through cultural performances, further strengthening their appreciation of Thai identity and cultural values in a global context.

The BUU Cultural Trip generated tangible outcomes by strengthening international students’ sense of belonging and engagement with Burapha University, expanding opportunities for intercultural learning, and fostering strong networks among international students. These outcomes contribute to the development of international students as Cultural and Brand Ambassadors, enabling them to share positive experiences of Burapha University, local communities, and Thai culture on the global stage. Moreover, the project exemplifies the University’s concrete commitment to advancing sustainable development and aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education through high-quality experiential learning; SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities through the preservation and promotion of community culture; SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production and SDG 13: Climate Action through the promotion of sustainable resource use and environmental awareness; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through integrated collaboration between the University, local communities, and partner networks to generate long-term positive social impact.
