The organisation of this event was guided by the 20-Year National Strategic Plan of Thailand (2018–2037), which outlines a roadmap for national development, emphasising the enhancement of human capital as a key mechanism to drive Thailand towards becoming a developed nation powered by knowledge and innovation. This strategic plan prioritises human development across all age groups and sectors to equip the population with the capabilities needed to support sustainable national advancement.
In this context, educational reform has become essential, particularly in the development of 21st-century skills, the redefinition of teachers’ roles to align with emerging challenges, and establishing efficient educational management systems that promote lifelong learning and elevate Thailand’s educational standards to global excellence. In parallel with these national priorities, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative force in educational reform. The integration of AI into learning processes not only enhances instructional efficiency but also fosters innovative learning environments responsive to the needs of 21st-century learners. Generative AI, in particular, has the potential to revolutionise educational practices by enabling personalised learning, reducing administrative burdens on teachers, and strengthening their role as designers of meaningful learning experiences. In light of these developments, the seminar aimed to equip educators and educational personnel with the knowledge and skills necessary to harness Generative AI for innovation in teaching and professional development, particularly in alignment with the new Performance Agreement (PA) criteria.
To inform the seminar’s focus, the Department conducted a Needs Assessment Survey involving 396 respondents, including school administrators, teachers, and educational personnel. The findings revealed that the most highly demanded topic was “Using Generative AI to Create Quality Innovation for Professional Advancement under the New PA Framework”, followed by “Upskilling and Reskilling in the AI Era: Preparing for a Sustainable Educational Future”. Therefore, this academic seminar addressed a timely and critical topic to enhance educational personnel’s readiness for digital transformation, promote international standards of educational excellence, and contribute to Thailand’s sustainable development.
