In today’s digital era, mass communication and digital media are pivotal in driving organisational growth, particularly in public relations, internal communication, and community engagement. Educational institutions, in particular, must leverage effective media strategies to communicate with students, parents, communities, and relevant stakeholders.
With its expertise in media production and communication, the Department of Communication Arts, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Burapha University, recognises the importance of equipping teachers, students, and school personnel with practical skills in digital media creation. This initiative focuses on schools in Si Racha District, Chonburi Province, a community near the university, that are well-positioned to apply the knowledge gained.
This project represents a form of academic service to society and fulfils the university’s mission in community engagement. It further demonstrates the application of communication arts in fostering local development, while providing faculty members opportunities to share expertise and engage in mutual learning with the community.
By doing so, the project aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in promoting inclusive and equitable quality education (SDG 4), fostering innovation in communication (SDG 9), and strengthening sustainable community partnerships (SDG 11).

- To develop participants’ technical skills using basic digital media production tools and techniques.
- To enable schools to apply media knowledge effectively in organisational communication, enhancing their internal and external engagement capacity.
- To contribute to Burapha University’s mission of delivering academic services to society through knowledge transfer and practical training in communication arts.
Program Activities:
The program was conducted over two days. On the first day, project coordinators visited Wat Ratniyomtham Municipal School to deliver lectures and interactive sessions for teachers, students, and staff. The activities began with an introduction to Burapha University and its Department of Communication Arts, followed by sessions on online content creation, becoming a content creator, and media literacy.
On the second day, participants engaged in online training via Zoom, focusing on designing media with smartphone applications and learning basic techniques for video production using mobile devices. The sessions included interactive games, Q&A activities, and concluded with an invitation to further explore related topics through BUU MOOC, the university’s online learning platform.
Expected Outcomes (Impacts):
The project enhanced the digital literacy of teachers, students, and staff at Wat Ratniyomtham Municipal School, equipping them with foundational media production skills— content planning, video editing, and managing organisational social media platforms. Participants can now apply these skills to improve communication strategies, strengthen public relations, and build a positive school image within the community.
For the Department of Communication Arts, this project reinforced its academic service mission by providing faculty members with valuable experience in community collaboration, knowledge transfer, and real-world application of communication theories and practices.
Through these outcomes, the project contributes to the advancement of quality education (SDG 4), the integration of innovation in communication practices (SDG 9), and the development of sustainable community partnerships (SDG 11).
