Driving the SDGs Project: Comprendre et Agir 2025

The French Program, Department of Western Languages, recognizes the importance of sustainable human development, particularly in promoting knowledge, understanding, and skills related to Gender Equality. In the Bachelor of Arts Program in French for Communication, the majority of students are women, followed by LGBTQ+ students. Therefore, fostering awareness of gender equality and respectful acceptance of diversity is essential to enable students to coexist harmoniously on the basis of mutual respect and empathy.

In terms of graduate development, the program philosophy emphasizes “Producing graduates who can live and work in a multicultural society.” This vision encompasses not only multicultural contexts within Thai society but also the global workplace, including Francophone businesses and international organizations. Since gender equality in the workplace differs between Thai and international contexts, it is crucial to cultivate students’ understanding and awareness of these differences. By doing so, students will learn to respect diversity, embrace inclusivity, and contribute to positive social and professional environments.

The project aims to:

  1. Enhance knowledge and understanding of SDG 5: Gender Equality and its implementation in both Thailand and France.

  2. Raise awareness of gender equality in everyday life.

  3. Develop skills for respectful tolerance of differences.

Activities included:

  1. Understanding the Sustainable Development Goals through board games.

  2. Storytelling and analyzing current news in France in relation to the SDGs.

  3. Attending a lecture on “SDG 5: Gender Equality in Thailand and France.”

  4. Practicing respectful and inclusive communication through interactive board games.

  5. Developing empathy skills through experiential games.

Outcomes:
Participants in the project demonstrated greater awareness of gender diversity and respectful acceptance of differences. They gained insights into the varying perspectives on gender equality in Thailand and France and learned how to apply this knowledge to their personal lives and future careers. Furthermore, they developed communication skills grounded in mutual respect and understanding, enabling them to effectively engage in multicultural and gender-diverse societies.
