On 9 April 2026, Burapha University Sa Kaeo Campus organized the training programme entitled “Supporting Provincial Administration through University Knowledge 2026” at Saranit Naksuksri Conference Hall, 2nd Floor, Professor Dr. Suchart Upatham Building, Burapha University Sa Kaeo Campus. The programme aimed to transfer academic knowledge and university expertise to provincial and local administrative organizations, enhancing the capacity of public sector personnel to effectively address local development challenges while promoting sustainable provincial development. This initiative reflects the University’s commitment to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education through lifelong learning and knowledge sharing, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by strengthening collaboration between higher education institutions, government agencies, and local communities.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Parinya Phothisat, Governor of Sa Kaeo Province, who delivered the opening remarks and emphasized the importance of collaboration between academic institutions and government agencies in strengthening provincial administration and sustainable community development.
The programme commenced at 8:00 a.m. with participant registration. More than 500 participants attended the training, including representatives from government agencies, local administrative organizations, village headmen, and subdistrict chiefs from all nine districts of Sa Kaeo Province. Their strong participation demonstrated the shared commitment of multiple stakeholders to enhancing local governance, improving public service delivery, and promoting inclusive and sustainable development across the province.
At 8:30 a.m., Mr. Worapoj Iamraksa, Vice President for Sa Kaeo Campus, delivered the welcome address, followed by Assistant Professor Yanin Phatsopha, Assistant to the President for Sa Kaeo Campus, who presented the objectives of the programme. The initiative was designed to integrate the University’s academic expertise with practical governance needs, enabling provincial and local leaders to strengthen their administrative capabilities and respond effectively to emerging economic, social, and environmental challenges.
At 9:00 a.m., Mr. Parinya Phothisat, Governor of Sa Kaeo Province, delivered a special lecture entitled “The Role of Local Administrative Leaders in Supporting Provincial Administration.” The session highlighted strategies for strengthening cooperation among government agencies, local administrative organizations, and community leaders to improve public administration, encourage citizen participation, and implement provincial policies more effectively. The lecture also underscored the importance of building transparent, accountable, and effective institutions, contributing to SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.
At 10:00 a.m., participants attended a lecture on “The Role of Local Administrative Leaders in Natural Resources and Environmental Management, Including Climate Change Impacts.” The session was delivered by Mr. Thanaphon Nonphao, Professional Forestry Officer and Director of the Water Resources Division, together with Mr. Nattaphon Sawatdee, Professional Environmental Officer and Director of the Strategy Division, from the Sa Kaeo Provincial Office of Natural Resources and Environment.
The speakers shared practical knowledge on sustainable natural resource management, environmental conservation, and community-based approaches to climate change adaptation. Participants gained a deeper understanding of how local leaders can strengthen environmental governance, conserve natural resources, and enhance community resilience against the impacts of climate change. These efforts directly support SDG 13: Climate Action and SDG 15: Life on Land, promoting sustainable resource management and long-term environmental stewardship at the local level.
Through this training programme, Burapha University reaffirmed its role as a socially engaged university by applying its academic expertise and research to address real-world challenges and support evidence-based public administration. By fostering collaboration among universities, government agencies, local administrative organizations, and community leaders, the programme strengthened local capacity, encouraged knowledge exchange, and promoted integrated approaches to sustainable provincial development. Ultimately, the initiative contributes to building stronger institutions, more resilient communities, and a sustainable future for Sa Kaeo Province in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
