Faculty of Engineering, Burapha University Signs MOU with Chonburi Technical College to Advance Smart EduTech 5.0 and Workforce Development in the EEC

The Faculty of Engineering, Burapha University, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Chonburi Technical College to strengthen academic collaboration in engineering and technology development. Recognizing that the development of a highly skilled engineering and technology workforce is a key driver of national development—particularly in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), which requires future-ready human resources aligned with advanced and emerging industries—this collaboration reflects a shared commitment to integrating vocational and higher education. The partnership is implemented under the Smart EduTech 5.0 framework, aiming to enhance the quality of teaching and learning, promote technology transfer, and foster innovation with practical and sustainable applications.

The objectives of the collaboration are to strengthen academic partnerships between higher education institutions and vocational education institutions; to jointly develop engineering and technology curricula and learning activities aligned with the Smart EduTech 5.0 concept; and to facilitate the transfer of knowledge, technology, and innovation into practice-based learning. Through these efforts, the project seeks to enhance the competencies of the engineering and technology workforce to meet the demands of industries within the EEC. These objectives contribute directly to SDG 4: Quality Education by promoting inclusive, high-quality, and practice-oriented learning pathways, and SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by preparing skilled human resources for sustainable economic development.

The collaboration was formalized through the signing of the MOU during the “TechnoChon Smart EduTech 5.0” Exhibition, accompanied by knowledge exchange activities, engineering exhibitions, and the presentation of innovative projects, including an autonomous mobile robot developed through joint academic efforts. These activities serve as a model for the integrated implementation of teaching, research, and academic services, demonstrating effective collaboration between institutions and supporting SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

As a result, the project has fostered strategic educational and technological cooperation between higher education and vocational institutions, leading to the development of modern curricula and learning activities that emphasize hands-on learning and real-world application. Learners gain opportunities to enhance their skills in engineering, technology, and innovation in line with industry needs, while the university’s role in knowledge and innovation transfer to society is strengthened. The collaboration also contributes to building a regional network for workforce development in the EEC and supports sustainable goals in quality education and lifelong learning. The project was conducted on 15 January 2026.
