Open a New World by Reading

Open a New World by Reading

Libraries serve as academic services for those seeking knowledge, foster a love of reading, and encourage lifelong learning. They also serve as a repository of various information resources. Providing training for librarian assistants and organising activities to promote reading and understanding are crucial missions for libraries in communities at all levels. Recognising this importance, the Burapha University Library has launched the Librarian Assistant Project and organised activities to promote reading and learning for inmates at the Chonburi Women’s Correctional Institution. This program aims to provide academic services to female inmates. The goal is to raise awareness of the importance of reading and learning through various forms of information media, enabling them to contribute to library work while in prison. This knowledge can be applied appropriately to their lives. Furthermore, it fosters a love of reading, fostering creative thinking, and fostering the spirit of inmates. Despite the lack of access to external libraries, these individuals possess the strength, knowledge, and abilities to contribute to their families, society, and nation.
