In an era where democracy is challenged by rapid social and technological changes, fostering democratic knowledge, understanding, and civic skills among youth has become crucial. The Political and Civic Development Center of King Prajadhipok’s Institute, Chonburi Province, in collaboration with the Faculty of Political Science and Law, Burapha University, has initiated the “Fundamental of Democracy” (FOD) Youth Training Program. The project is supported by Chonradsadornumrung School, Pattaya City 11 School (Satit Pattaya Secondary School), and the Pattaya City Administration. The program aims to instil democratic values, promote civic participation, and raise awareness of citizens’ responsibilities in a democratic society.

Program Activities:
The “Fundamental of Democracy” (FOD) Youth Training Program was held from June 19 to 20, 2025, at Chonradsadornumrung School and Pattaya City 11 School (Satit Pattaya Secondary School), Chonburi Province. The program was structured into two main components: academic lectures and participatory workshops. The lecture session featured Associate Professor Dr. Olarn Thinbangtieo, Political and Civic Development Center Chair of King Prajadhipok’s Institute, and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Political Science and Law, Burapha University. He delivered a talk on “The Meaning, Origins, and Key Principles of Democracy,” providing in-depth insights to the participants. In the workshop session, students engaged in hands-on group activities to stimulate critical thinking, public speaking, teamwork, and democratic dialogue. The participatory approach allowed students to explore civic issues and propose community-based solutions. Throughout the program, experienced teachers and facilitators guided the students, ensuring an effective and empowering learning process that deepens their understanding of democratic citizenship.
Expected Outcomes (Impacts):
The program significantly enhanced students’ understanding of democratic principles and their ability to apply such values daily. Participants demonstrated improved critical thinking, teamwork, and constructive expression of opinions. Moreover, the project fostered collaboration between schools, academic institutions, and public agencies, laying the foundation for a sustainable local network committed to nurturing democratic citizenship among youth.
