Practical Lawyer Licensing Examination Preparation Workshop (Batch 66)

Practical Lawyer Licensing Examination Preparation Workshop (Batch 66)

Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Burapha University and the Lawyers Council of Thailand under Royal Patronage, this academic service initiative aims to enhance professional legal competencies and practical readiness for law graduates, students, and legal practitioners preparing for the practical attorney licensing examination. By providing targeted re-skilling and up-skilling in civil and criminal procedure law, legal drafting, and professional ethics, the project strengthens regional legal capacity. Crucially, it yields high-caliber legal professionals tailored to support the rule of law and sustainable governance infrastructure within the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), directly contributing to SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.

The aims of project

1.To review essential legal principles, including Civil Procedure Law, Criminal Procedure Law, and Lawyers’ Professional Ethics, in preparation for the practical licensing examination.

2.To cultivate hands-on skills in case preparation, court proceedings, legal pleading drafting, and formal legal documentation.

3.To enhance the professional capabilities and confidence of law graduates and diploma holders prior to entering legal practice. 4.To deliver impactful academic outreach (upskilling/reskilling) for legal practitioners in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), advancing SDG 16 while reinforcing institutional collaboration between Burapha University and the Lawyers Council of Thailand through non-degree certification.

The intensive two-day workshop integrated interactive lectures, practical drafting exercises, and personalized feedback sessions facilitated by senior legal practitioners and law faculty members. Day 1 focused on civil procedure, pre-trial motions, pleading formulations, and legal documentation, complemented by an hands-on drafting workshop. Day 2 emphasized criminal procedure, professional code of conduct, and simulated examination response writing accompanied by direct expert evaluations to ensure actionable skill acquisition.

The Impacts

1.Enhanced Legal Knowledge: Participants successfully upskilled and reskilled in core procedural laws and professional ethical standards governed by the Lawyers Council.

2.Practical Competency: Participants developed advanced competencies in case preparation, procedural litigation, legal drafting, and court document preparation.

3.Expert Mentorship: Beneficiaries gained direct access to specialized legal expertise and real-world litigation insights from practicing attorneys and academics.

4.Institutional Alignment & Regional Impact: Strengthened Burapha University’s role as a regional legal capacity-building hub for the EEC, promoting rule of law (SDG 16) and offering non-degree legal qualifications.
