Its principal objective is to integrate biodiversity conservation into tourism development and operations at both national and local levels.

The project involves developing a policy framework for biodiversity-based tourism to minimise tourism impacts on biodiversity and promote the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity, while ensuring that local communities benefit comprehensively. Three pilot areas have been designated in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province: the areas surrounding Kui Buri National Park and Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park, including both terrestrial and marine areas, adjacent working areas around Pak Nam Pran, and the coastal and wetland areas of Sam Roi Yot. The project focuses on promoting responsible tourism development, particularly regarding biodiversity and environmental considerations. It also aims to stimulate economic growth and equitable benefit sharing, while creating meaningful and engaging tourism experiences based on destinations, culture, and attractive natural resources.

BEDO, as an agency responsible for promoting the utilisation of biological resources and generating income alongside conservation for sustainable use, recognises the importance of driving the biodiversity-based tourism master plan and the conservation-oriented tourism strategy in alignment with the sustainable utilisation of biodiversity. This will lead to practical implementation and generate benefits from biodiversity-based tourism in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province.

Project Coordinator: 1.
