The initiative for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 14: Life Below Water and SDG 15: Life on Land, and academic exchange between the Faculty of Science, Burapha University, and Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology (TUMSAT), aims to strengthen knowledge and foster international academic collaboration in alignment with the SDGs. The initiative promotes the exchange of experiences among students from both institutions to enhance their knowledge and skills in areas related to sustainability, biodiversity, aquatic science, oceanography, and marine technology. This collaboration will contribute to the development of knowledge and educational practices that can be applied and further advanced at the global level.
The aims
- To facilitate academic exchange in oceanography between TUMSAT students and graduate students of the Faculty of Science, Burapha University.
- To promote the efforts of the Faculty of Science and Burapha University toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 14: Life Below Water and SDG 15: Life on Land.
- To prepare graduate students of the Faculty of Science with comprehensive global literacy skills, including academic knowledge, cultural awareness, and the ability to collaborate effectively in an international environment.
The project organized academic and cultural exchange activities between graduate students of the Faculty of Science, Burapha University, and students from TUMSAT, along with field activities to explore marine and coastal resources. The activities included coastal ecosystem learning at Bangsaen Beach, a lecture on ecotourism and learning about coastal communities in Si Racha, a lecture and learning session on the Marine Animal Bank at the Marine Animal Bank Learning Center, Koh Sichang, under Royal Patronage, and learning about mangrove ecosystems.
The academic exchange collaboration between the Faculty of Science, Burapha University, and Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology (TUMSAT) promotes learning about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among TUMSAT students and students of the Faculty of Science. The collaboration also fosters a global mindset and supports the Faculty of Science and Burapha University in advancing their contributions to the SDGs, particularly SDG 14: Life Below Water and SDG 15: Life on Land.
