On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Thailand and the People’s Republic of China in 2025, Burapha University, through the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, in collaboration with a network of higher education institutions in the People’s Republic of China, jointly organizes the exhibition “Silk Road Symbiosis and Mutual Learning of Civilizations: China–Thailand Art Exchange Exhibition.” The exhibition aims to commemorate this historic milestone while promoting artistic and cultural exchange between the two nations. It will be held from 29 November 2025 to 29 January 2026 at the Pusheng–Tangxun Lake Art Museum, Wuhan, Hubei Province, People’s Republic of China. The opening ceremony on 29 November 2025 will feature cultural dialogues, performances, food festivals, and related activities. The exhibition brings together works by over 150 Thai and Chinese artists.

Objectives:
- To commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Thailand and the People’s Republic of China through an international art exhibition that symbolises long-standing friendship, cooperation, and mutual respect between the two nations.
- To strengthen bilateral cultural relations by using art and cultural exchange as a platform for cultural diplomacy, fostering mutual understanding, trust, and sustainable cooperation between Thai and Chinese cultural and educational institutions.
- To promote mutual learning and knowledge exchange in the fields of fine arts, design, and cultural studies by facilitating collaboration among Thai and Chinese artists, academics, and cultural professionals.
- To enhance people-to-people connections by encouraging direct interaction among artists, students, scholars, and the general public through exhibitions, academic forums, cultural dialogues, and related activities.
- To provide cultural, educational, and social benefits to local communities in Wuhan and surrounding areas by offering public access to international artworks and cultural programs that broaden cultural awareness and global perspectives.
- To support cultural tourism and the local creative economy by attracting visitors and cultural practitioners, and by promoting cultural spaces as centres of international cultural exchange. 7. To establish a sustainable framework for future China–Thailand artistic collaboration by strengthening institutional networks and laying the foundation for continued cultural exchange beyond the anniversary year.
Program Activities:
- Project Planning and Coordination: Establish a joint working committee between Burapha University and partner institutions in the People’s Republic of China to define objectives, scope, timeline, and responsibilities.
- Artwork Selection and Curation: Invite and select artworks from Thai and Chinese artists through a coordinated curatorial process to ensure academic and artistic quality.
- Academic and Administrative Preparation Coordinate academic content, exhibition themes, and supporting activities, including seminars and cultural programs, in accordance with project objectives.
- Logistics and Exhibition Preparation: Arrange artwork production, transportation, insurance, installation, and exhibition design at the venue.
- Public Relations and Promotion Conduct publicity and communication activities to inform the public and relevant stakeholders about the exhibition.
- Exhibition Implementation: Organise the exhibition at the Pusheng–Tangxun Lake Art Museum, Wuhan, from 29 November 2025 to 29 January 2026, including the opening ceremony and related activities.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitor project implementation, evaluate outcomes, and document results for reporting and future collaboration.
Expected Outcomes (Impacts):
Beyond commemorating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Thailand and the People’s Republic of China, this exhibition serves as a significant platform for strengthening bilateral cooperation through art and culture. It fosters mutual understanding, trust, and long-term cultural diplomacy by encouraging dialogue, knowledge exchange, and creative collaboration between artists, academics, and cultural institutions of both nations.
The exhibition also contributes to the development of people-to-people relations by providing opportunities for Thai and Chinese artists to share artistic practices, cultural values, and contemporary perspectives, thereby enhancing mutual appreciation and sustainable cultural partnerships between the two countries. At the local level, the exhibition generates cultural, educational, and social benefits for the people of Wuhan and the surrounding areas. It offers the local community access to international artworks and cultural activities, broadening cultural awareness and global perspectives.
The accompanying programs—such as academic forums, cultural performances, culinary festivals, and public activities—promote community engagement, cultural learning, and creative inspiration, while also supporting cultural tourism and the local creative economy. Through these multidimensional outcomes, the exhibition plays a vital role in advancing cultural exchange, public diplomacy, and shared cultural prosperity between China and Thailand.
